Threaded Inserts for Plastics

Download Threaded Inserts CatalogBelow you will find information on Tri-Star’s threaded inserts for plastics.  We offer a full line of brass inserts for all methods of installation, including: ultrasonic, heat, thermal, press-in and mold-in. Tri-Star can also custom design and produce inserts for most applications with a low minimum order quantity requirement. Although our standard line is brass inserts, we also stock stainless steel inserts in a variety of styles and sizes. Our threaded inserts start at 0-80 for inch threads and M1.6 for metric threads. We offer the most extensive variety of lengths for ultrasonic and thermal threaded inserts in the industry.

Remember, if you don’t see what you’re looking for listed here, call our Engineering Department at 1-800-882-8980 and ask to speak with a Design Engineer.

Please note: Tri-Star requires a 1,000 piece minimum order. The minimum order value for new accounts is $250.00, and $125.00 for established accounts.

H Series: Tapered Threaded Inserts

H Series Tapered Threaded Inserts

The leading insert for ultrasonic or thermal installation into thermoplastic or structural foam. A row of unique “knuckle knurls” reduces residual stress and increases strength. The tapered design reduces installation time, making alignment faster and more accurate.

C Series: Chevron Threaded Insert

C Series Chevron Threaded Inserts

Designed for straight holes using ultrasonic or thermal processes. This series features two opposing bands of sharp diagonal knurls of different diameters for maximum gripping power. A lead-in pilot diameter assures true perpendicular alignment.

HC Series: Headed Chevron Insert

HC Series Headed Chevron Inserts

The HC Series features a flange for a greater load-bearing surface in weaker plastics. The flange provides a large contact area for electrical connections. Used in reverse-entry applications, the HC Series offers exceptional pull-out strengths.

S Series: Symmetrical Threaded Inserts

S Series Symmetrical Threaded Inserts

For fast, high-volume applications, symmetrical inserts install without orientation using ultrasonic or thermal equipment. They are designed for straight holes and are ideal for thin-wall applications because little stress is applied to the walls of the part.

P & HP Series: Threaded Press-In Inserts

P & HP Series Threaded Press-In Inserts

Straight-hole inserts install easily in hard or thermoset plastics without heat or special equipment. Three bands of helical knurls anchor the insert firmly into place and provide excellent torque-out resistance.

MB Series: Mold-In Blind Inserts

MB Series Mold-In Blind Threaded Inserts

Designed for mold-in applications. The inserts feature a blind thread (closed bottom) that prevents plastic from entering the bottom of the insert.

MC Series: Mold-In Closed-End Inserts

MC Series Mold-In Closed-End Inserts

Designed to be molded into Plastics, Rubber & Ceramics, with aggressive diamond knurling that provides high resistance to tensile pull and rotational torque loads. It has a closed bottom and a controlled minor diameter which provides for accurate positioning on core pins. The “closed-end” bottom prevents plastic flow into the threads.

MT Series: Mold-In Thru-Thread Inserts

MT Series Mold-In Thru-Thread Inserts

Designed to be molded into Plastics, Rubber & Ceramics, with aggressive diamond knurling that provides high resistance to tensile pull and rotational torque loads. It also has a controlled minor diameter which provides for accurate positioning on core pins.

SH & SC Series: Threaded Studs

SH & SC Series Threaded Studs

Available in H or C Series body designs. Studs are commonly used to fulfill specific design functions, to save money in production costs, to function as electrical contacts or to replace self-tapping or removable screws. Thread lengths are variable to meet your specific requirements. Special studs without threads can be used as axles, pivots, pins, locating points or solder terminals.

CL Series: Compression Limiter

Compression Limiters

Unthreaded spacers (bushings) used to strengthen plastics during compression loads. These types of loads are generated when fastening bolts and screws during assembly. Compression limiters can be designed for any installation method.
